As you guys read in my previous blog post, yesterday I started the closed beta of Forge of Empires. My first hours in the game were dominated by focusing on building up my city. So house after house and production building after production building was constructed by my people. Very quickly I started collection coins and supplies, filling up my treasure chest. But today the times of peaceful coexistence were over. It was time for war and expanding my territory!
This is how it works with the keys for the closed beta: Everyone who registers at www.forgeofempires.com has the chance to get a key, which he would receive via the registered email address within the next days and weeks (so don’t worry, if you haven’t received one yet, you still have all chances!). Furthermore, we will also continuously give away keys via our Facebook pages. Besides that, all players who have already played the Exclusive Preview will get an in-game message when they log in on the Exclusive Preview server (beta.forgeofempires.com).
For all those of you who did not have the chance to play Forge of Empires so far, we decided to share our first impressions of the closed beta with you. Thus, we will post a diary with our experiences in the game in the future. So stay tuned!
In the last couple of months I have provided you with a lot of facts and information about the current and upcoming features of Forge of Empires. Today I would like to give you some exclusive insights into how it is like working on Forge of Empires here at InnoGames. So in the upcoming weeks, we will introduce you to a number of different people, which are working on delivering you the best possible experience with our game. As we are very proud of our graphics and the level of detail achieved within Forge of Empires, my first choice was to talk with someone who is responsible for the graphical design of the game. So I sat down with Tobias – our Lead Artist for Forge of Empires, discussing his work and the beautiful graphics of Forge of Empires.

The awesome things in life never come easy. What goes without saying for our day-by-day reality should also apply to a well-made browser game. Of course, players should not get frustrated too much, especially in the beginning of a game, otherwise no one but the most masochistic individuals would continue playing. And even regular players require constant feelings of achievement, as they make progress and invest time and effort into a game. Continue reading Forge of Empires: Per Aspera ad Astra*
As our little band of testers might have already realized, we are constantly implementing new features and updates – at this point of development, things can still be tweaked if they don’t work as imagined, and if players (or colleagues) demand a certain feature, it can still be inserted into the game. Today I would like to give you an introduction into one of the more recent features, one that will receive a lot more options in the foreseeable future: interaction between players, namely cooperation and competition between them.
After sharing some insights into the memoirs of a ruler lately, I want to give you guys more information on the current status of Forge of Empires today. As you probably know, some players already have the chance of playing the game in our Exclusive Preview. Those players provided us with a lot of important feedback. We are very grateful for this as it helps us a lot to improve the game – this step is very important for us in order to deliver the best gaming experience possible to you.
… Defeated! Retreating from the battlefield, I still tasted the bitterness of last night’s events. How could something like this happen? Despite secretly preparing at night, Hasdrubaal must have had noticed that my soldiers were ready to storm his fortress. When I sounded the attack, his archers were already waiting, welcoming us with a rain of arrows. Additionally, he had deployed his legionnaires for protection. After very quickly losing almost all of my troops, I had to realize that there was no chance of victory. Thus I called retreat. Continue reading Memoirs of a Ruler: Spies to Turn the Tides of War

After having played Forge of Empires for the last couple of months, I have almost reached the end of the High Middle Age. Now I am reigning over a large empire with my capital city as a prosperous metropolis. My subjects worship me as the greatest leader of the entire continent. Still, I sometimes sit on my throne and think back at the old days. In these times, only a handful of people were living in my small Stone Age village. But the simple days of building and planning as I see fit are long gone – times have become harder. Continue reading Memoirs of a Ruler
